JAYDENCHO.

Circuits. Strings.
A little curiosity goes a long way.

I’m an engineering student, violinist, and community builder. This is a collection of the things I make, the questions I follow, and the people I learn with.

A note from the editor

More than
a list of things.

I’m studying electrical engineering at the University of Waterloo. My interests take me from rover electronics and materials research to concert halls, volleyball courts, and community classrooms. Jazz is part of the soundtrack.

Notes from
the workbench.

Hands-on work in embedded systems and materials research. Learning by designing, testing, and asking better questions.

2026JUN — PRESENT

Building for the
terrain ahead.

Electrical team · Space Exploration Alberta Robotics

Contributing to the electronics behind SPEAR’s rover, from custom circuit boards to the embedded software that controls wheel movement.

  • Collaborated on KiCad PCB designs for 10 custom microcontrollers with EtherCAT integration.
  • Programmed STM32 microcontrollers in C++ using CubeIDE.
  • Worked on board assembly, soldering, and thermal regulation.

The challenge: upgrade older microcontroller hardware and move communications from CAN bus to EtherCAT.

My contribution: PCB design and assembly, electrical schematics, C++ programming for wheel control, and manual soldering.

The result: a reusable development board that addressed hardware obsolescence and simplified future EtherCAT prototyping.

The question: how do composition and nanoparticle aggregation influence a hydrogel’s mechanical properties?

The process: compression tests using the Mach-1 Biomomentum system, stress–strain analysis, and mapping indentation to investigate aggregation.

Beyond the lab: presented the research at FURCA and helped make testing workflows reproducible through documented procedures.

The idea: humanize learning and help students connect with the people behind their education.

The work: a three-part teacher interview series alongside in-school presentations and an online peer-tutoring network.

The wider effort: EduSpark supported 75+ students and grew its digital reach to 11,000+ interactions.
